CURVED BUFFET FROM COLMAR

This two-part curved buffet is composed of cornice in cocked hat, inlaid with rockeries panels, volutes, shells and nettings. This buffet presents typical characteristics of XVIIIth Colmarian style. The crossbow frontage was quite rare in buffet conception because of its complexity, which confirms the rarity of this furniture. The style is inspired by the baroque theme, very popular until the mid XVIIIth century in Alsace. This buffet can be compared to the wardrobe in the Unterlinden Museum in Colmar.
